(Ha'aretz) Rafik Halabi - The struggle of the Druze in Syria is over freedom of worship and defense of Druze identity, which the Assad regime and the current one are trying to break. Jews must understand the rising fury among the Druze upon witnessing the terrible and barbaric cruelty of a jihadi shaving off the beard of a sheikh and spitting on him, or of a 5-year-old girl being raped. The Druze in Israel wish to protect their brothers. Due to the character of the Jewish state, the Druze in Israel are at the forefront of defending Druze across the Middle East. All members of the Druze community are responsible for one another. The Druze in Syria are our brothers. We will not stand aside in view of the cruel massacre perpetrated against them and the attempts to annihilate them. No task is more moral than this one.
