(Ynet News) Itamar Eichner - On Monday, Spain, Ireland and Slovenia led an initiative in Brussels to suspend the "association agreement" between Israel and the EU. However, opposition by Germany, Italy, Austria, Hungary, Croatia, Romania, Lithuania, Greece and other countries blocked any decision on the measure. A diplomatic source in Israel noted that the fighting against Iran and its close ties with the U.S. have strengthened Israel's standing in the eyes of some European countries. Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar called the initiative an absurd and distorted move that discriminates against Israel at a time when it is in an existential war.
