Samaritans Carry Out Passover Sacrifice in West Bank


(Jerusalem Post) Around 800 Samaritans live in Israel and in Samaria in the West Bank. Every Passover, they sacrifice 40 sheep in a traditional ceremony on Mount Gerizim in Samaria, and they performed the ceremony on Thursday night. The Samaritan Passover is believed to have been observed for more than 2,000 years. This tradition ceased among the Jewish people with the destruction of the Second Temple in 70 CE.
