Morocco's Battle Against Islamic Jihadi Terrorism


(Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs) Col. (ret.) Dr. Jacques Neriah - Jihadist terrorist cells in Morocco are not only a real threat to the stability of the kingdom, but also a significant provider of manpower to radical Islamic movements in the Middle East, Africa, and Europe. A May 16, 2003, terrorist attack in Casablanca killed more than 45. Since then, Morocco has adopted a ruthless and merciless war against jihadist organizations. Since 2016, Morocco is part of the U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM), dedicated to combating jihadists in the Sahel belt below the Sahara and elsewhere in Africa. The writer is a fellow of the Jerusalem Center.
