(UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights) Agnes Callamard, the UN Special Rapporteur on extrajudicial, summary or arbitrary executions, said Iran committed multiple human rights violations in shooting down a Ukraine airliner on Jan. 8, 2020, in an official letter to Iran published on Feb. 23, 2021. "The explanations provided by the Iranian authorities as to how the IRGC [air defense] TOR unit struck the civilian flight present many inconsistencies," she said.
