(New York Times) David Chrisinger - Edgar Kupfer-Koberwitz, who wasn't Jewish, was sent to the German concentration camp at Dachau, apparently for the crime of being a pacifist. For two years, he kept a journal that would later be used to convict those who had persecuted him and killed his fellow prisoners. His journal reflects his extraordinary powers of observation in analyzing the unique and hellish universe that was the Nazi concentration camp. The Dachau Trials began in November 1945. Over two years the court tried 1,200 defendants for war crimes and convicted 3/4 of them. With Edgar's diary as evidence, a number of former Dachau guards were punished for their part in a pattern of horrific crimes.2020-09-10 00:00:00Full Article
