(Jerusalem Post) Lidar Grave-Lazi - As the Jewish New Year begins next week, Israel's Central Bureau of Statistics on Tuesday estimated the population to be 8.585 million. There are 6.419 million Jewish residents (74.8% of the total) and 1.786 million Arab residents (20.8%). An additional 380,000 people (4.4%) are non-Arab Christians or people of other religions.
