(Washington Institute for Near East Policy) Raymond Tanter - The case in favor of preemptive war rests on several propositions: The threat from Iraq is high. There are several solid precedents for preemptive war. Containment and deterrence are less effective against rogues, suggesting preemption may be necessary. UN authorization for preventive war against Iraq is unnecessary. More explicit authority for regime change would be politically prudent.
