Saddam's Secret Foreign Legion


(London Times) Daniel McGrory - Saddam Hussein imported hundreds of well-trained Islamic guerrillas before the war to spearhead his fight against American and British forces. The men came from Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt, Syria, Morocco, Yemen, and Saudi Arabia. The Americans also captured Chechens fighting with Fedayin units close to Baghdad. The "foreign legion" stunned British troops in Basra with their fanaticism and skills in using rocket-propelled grenades and heavy machineguns.
