(Washington Times) Bill Gertz - The U.S. stood by for years as supposed allies helped its enemies obtain the world's most dangerous weapons, reveals Bill Gertz, defense and national security reporter for the Washington Times, in his new book Treachery. Excerpts: Libya ultimately admitted it had spent some $500 million since the late 1990s in developing nuclear weapons. The Libyans have continued to deny the existence of a biological-weapons program, even though numerous intelligence reports indicate they have such a program.
