Iran Won't Give Promise to End Uranium Enrichment


[New York Times] Michael Slackman - Iran responded Tuesday to a set of incentives from Europe and the U.S. aimed at ending its nuclear program, but did not agree to suspend the enrichment of uranium by the end of the month, the West's primary demand. The U.S., Britain, France, and Germany plan to meet Wednesday in New York to discuss the proposal and their response. But the meeting will not include Russia and China, which have been reluctant to punish Tehran harshly. John Bolton, the U.S. representative to the UN, said Tuesday that Washington was prepared to move rapidly on a new security council resolution calling for economic sanctions.
