Iran's Islamic Regime Stages a Dismal Election

(Washington Post) Ishaan Tharoor - With an opposition boycott and widespread disenchantment, only 40% of Iran's electorate voted Friday for the country's national parliament and the Assembly of Experts, the political body that will select the successor to Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, 84, Iran's supreme leader. The turnout may mark the lowest since the 1979 revolution. In Tehran, as little as 11% may have voted.
