Hamas Is Playing for Time in the Hostage Negotiations

(Ha'aretz) Amos Harel - There is growing recognition in Israel that Hamas is merely playing for time in the negotiations for the release of Israeli hostages, even though it's likely that Hamas has a great interest in keeping them as a bargaining chip for the future. The Hamas leadership appears drunk with power after its achievements on Oct. 7, and it now has no real interest in releasing hostages. It is only trying to postpone the Israeli invasion. There was a complete consensus on this matter among intelligence agencies dealing with the issue. This is a heartbreaking development for the families and friends of at least 229 hostages.
