(Ha'aretz) Yarden Michaeli - 12 oil tankers docked in Eilat at the Ashkelon-Eilat pipeline terminal in the past year and the number is increasing. The pipeline allows the rapid transfer of crude oil from the Mediterranean Sea to the Red Sea and on to East Asia, bypassing the Suez Canal. Of the 7 oil tankers that have docked in Israel this year, at least 5 unloaded their cargo in China.
