(Wall Street Journal) David S. Cloud - Oil industry strikes in Iran widened Tuesday as workers announced support for antigovernment protests. "Now is the time for widespread protests. Get ready for backbreaking strikes," said a committee representing contract oil workers at the Abadan refinery, Iran's largest. "This is the beginning of the road and we continue our protests every day, together with people all over the country." Strikes by workers at the refinery in 1978 helped bring down the Shah of Iran.
