Inflation Is Lower in Israel Due to Offshore Gas

(Globes) Guy Ben Simon - As of the end of June 2022, inflation in Israel was 4.4%, the highest rate since 2008, but less than half the 9.1% in the U.S. and 9.4% in the UK. The Bank of Israel found that when natural gas prices began rising on world markets in the second quarter of 2021, the energy component rose in Israel more moderately because the price of Israel's natural gas is fixed in long-term contracts.
