Protests Triggered by Rising Food Prices Spread in Iran

(New York Times) Farnaz Fassihi - Protests against the government spread to at least six provinces in Iran on Friday following several days of unrest sparked by rising food prices. Demonstrators took to the streets in Ahwaz, Qazvin, Shahreh Kurd and Dezfoul, chanting "death to the dictator," social media showed. In one instance on Thursday, a crowd tore down a banner featuring Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, as onlookers cheered.
