(CBS News-Reuters) The Russian Foreign Ministry on Tuesday doubled down on earlier remarks by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's Jewish origins are "not a guarantee against rampant neo-Nazism in the country." The ministry said that "history, unfortunately, knows tragic examples of cooperation between Jews and the Nazis." Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid noted: "Jews did not murder themselves in the Holocaust. The lowest level of racism against Jews is to accuse Jews themselves of anti-Semitism." The Russian Foreign Ministry responded that Lapid's comments "explain to a large extent why the current Israeli government supports the neo-Nazi regime in Kyiv."
