A battery may be deployed on the Gaza border toward the end of the year. Laser-based interception is silent and invisible, and costs about $3.50 per interception, in contrast to the Iron Dome, which costs $49,000 per interception. However, the laser system does not function well in times of heavy cloud cover or other inclement weather.
