Iranian Regime Denounces Soccer Star for Wearing Tiny Flags of All FIFA Members including Israel

(Middle East Institute) Meir Javedanfar - Former Iranian national soccer team captain Mehdi Mahdavikia has been condemned by Iranian regime news outlets for wearing a jersey at an international exhibition soccer match arranged by FIFA, the international soccer federation, in Qatar that featured the flags of all 211 FIFA members, including Israel. The Israeli flag, like all the other flags, was so tiny it was almost unrecognizable. However, there was public support for Mahdavikia inside Iran, including from the captain of Iran's national team, other top players, and the Iranian soccer federation.
