Czech Republic Buys Israeli Spyder Air-Defense Weapon for $627 Million

(Defense News) Jaroslaw Adamowski - The Czech Ministry of Defense has signed a deal to acquire Spyder surface-to-air missile systems made by Israel's Rafael Advanced Defense Systems for $627 million. Czech Defense Minister Lubomir Metnar said, "Finally, we will get rid of our dependence on the Soviet Kub [systems] from the 1970s which do not meet the current requirements for airspace protection."
