(Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs) Yoni Ben-Menachem - Dr. Hanan Ashrawi resigned from the PLO Central Council following Chairman Mahmoud Abbas' rejection of her request to become the head of the negotiations team with Israel after Dr. Saeb Erekat's death. Ashrawi began her career in the PLO as a spokesperson for the Palestinian delegation to the Madrid Conference in 1991.
