(Ynet News) Yaron Drukman - The Israel Health Ministry on Thursday said that only 1,994 new coronavirus cases were confirmed on Wednesday, but the number of patients on ventilators rose to 253. Three weeks ago, daily infections were above 8,000. The number of seriously ill has dropped to 734, while the death toll has reached 2,099. There are currently 43,939 active cases. Israel has been under lockdown since mid-September. On Thursday, coronavirus czar Prof. Ronni Gamzu told Army Radio: "We appear to be reaching our goals and would be able to begin lifting some restrictions next week."
