Court Backs Professor Sued by Muslim Student over Terrorism Course

(Judicial Watch) After a Muslim student at Scottsdale Community College in Arizona and the Council on American-Islamic Relations sued veteran professor Nicholas Damask for including a module analyzing Islamic terrorism in his world politics course, the college demanded that the professor apologize and warned that the course would be reviewed for "insensitivities." This month, U.S. District Court Judge Susan Brnovich dismissed the lawsuit, ruling that the student "was simply exposed to attitudes and outlooks at odds with his own religious perspective....Examining the course as a whole, a reasonable, objective observer would conclude that the teaching's primary purpose was not the inhibition of religion."
