Emergency UK Law Blocks Automatic Early Release of 50 Convicted Terrorists

(Metro-UK) Emma Brazell - Emergency legislation to block the automatic early release of terrorists became law in the UK on Wednesday. The change follows a terror attack on Feb. 2 after Sudesh Amman, 20, who had just been released from prison midway through his sentence, stabbed two bystanders. The law will affect around 50 prisoners and ensures that offenders serve 2/3 of their sentence before they are considered for release. Justice Secretary Robert Buckland said, "No terrorist should be released early only to kill and maim on our streets. Protecting the public is Government's first duty."
