Archaeologists Find Biblical Town of Ziklag

(Times of Israel) Amanda Borschel-Dan - Based on artifacts and carbon 14 dating results of excavations since 2015, an international team of archaeologists said Monday they have identified Khirbet a-Ra'i in the Judean foothills as the site of the Biblical-era Philistine town of Ziklag. According to the book of Samuel, Ziklag provided refuge to the future King David when he was on the run from King Saul. Later, in the book of Nehemiah, the town is mentioned as a base for Jews who returned from Babylon.
