(Reuters-New York Times) The U.S.-backed Syrian Democratic Forces said it thwarted an attempted Islamic State suicide bomb attack on Wednesday during a last-stand battle for the jihadist group's final enclave of Baghouz. Mustafa Bali, a spokesman for the SDF, said a group of suicide bombers "tried to blow themselves up amidst our forces. Our forces targeted and killed them before they reached our positions."
