FDA Approves Israeli Generic EpiPen

(NBC News) Maggie Fox - The U.S. Food and Drug Administration on Thursday approved an Israeli-made competitor to the EpiPen for people with life-threatening allergic reactions. The approval of the new generic made by Teva Pharmaceuticals "means patients living with severe allergies who require constant access to lifesaving epinephrine should have a lower-cost option, as well as another approved product to help protect against potential drug shortages," FDA Commissioner Dr. Scott Gottlieb said.
