(Globes) Orthopedics robotics company OrthoSpin announced it has raised $3 million for its smart, robotic external fixation system for orthopedic treatment, led by Johnson & Johnson Innovation. Effective treatment currently requires patients to manually adjust fixation devices on a daily basis. Adjustment errors and non-compliance often result in poor clinical outcomes. The OrthoSpin system makes pre-programmed adjustments automatically and continuously - without the need for patient involvement. Using smaller incremental adjustments, the system has the potential to change the outcomes of treatments such as bone lengthening, setting complex fractures, and correcting deformities.
