U.S. Diplomat Who Helped Jews Flee Holocaust Recognized

(AP) A state historical highway marker will be dedicated on June 25 to honor Lynchburg, Va., native James Rives Childs. During World War II, as charge d'affaires for the American Legation in Tangier, Morocco, Childs helped 1,200 Hungarian Jews obtain visas to Spanish Morocco, thereby escaping the Holocaust.
