Netanyahu Warns Assad on Iranian Presence in Syria

(AFP) Joe Jackson - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told the Policy Exchange think tank in London on Thursday that increasing Iranian encroachment in Syria required "a new calculus." Syrian President Bashar al-Assad "is no longer immune, his regime is no longer immune. If he fires at us, as we've just demonstrated, we will destroy his forces." Last month, Israel attacked Iranian targets in Syria following a barrage of rockets fired at Israel by Iran from inside Syria. "Syria has to understand that Israel will not tolerate the Iranian military entrenchment in Syria against Israel. The consequences are not merely to the Iranian forces there but to the Assad regime as well."
