The army's Home Front Command has been conducting blast tests on bomb shelters in the Arava desert. On Wednesday, the IDF detonated nearly a ton of explosives next to concrete bunkers outfitted with three new designs for doors - meant to address one of the most vulnerable aspects of protective rooms. Israelis are required, under law, to build a protective room in their home or apartment, to defend against rocket attacks as well as earthquakes.
