Crack Halts Flow in Natural Gas Pipeline Used to Generate Half of Israel's Electric Power

(Ha'aretz-Globes) Avi Bar-Eli - Israel's supply of natural gas has been halted after a crack in the pipeline from the Tamar gas field was discovered last Thursday. The gas is used to generate more than half of Israel's electric power. Israel's power stations have switched to more expensive and polluting diesel fuel to produce electricity, while the gas flow is expected to be restored on Wednesday.
