(AP-Washington Post) Fares Akram and Mohammed Daraghmeh - The Palestinian Authority on Wednesday said it was slashing by one-third the salaries of 50,000 former policemen, teachers and civil servants in Gaza who have been sitting idle since Hamas took over the territory in 2007. The PA employees have provided a large slice of the purchasing power that maintains Gaza's economy.
