Osteopetrosis Treatment in Israel

(Jerusalem Post) Barbara Sofer - Dr. Polina Stepensky, an expert on bone marrow transplantation at Hadassah University Medical Center in Jerusalem, has successfully treated 15 children from Russia who suffer from osteopetrosis, a rare and fatal genetic bone disease. In the northern Russian Republic of Chuvash, one of every 4,000 newborns has this condition. Citizens of a country 1,000 times bigger than Israel come here for their cure.
