UNESCO Condemns Israel, Declares Biblical Sites Islamic

(New York Times) Aurelien Breeden and Isabel Kershner - UNESCO adopted a resolution on Wednesday that criticized Israel but it left out a contentious clause that would have classified the Western Wall, one of Judaism's holiest sites, as a part of the Al Aqsa Mosque compound in the Old City. The resolution declared that the Tomb of the Patriarchs in Hebron and Rachel's Tomb in Bethlehem were "an integral part of Palestine." The vote was 26 in favor, 6 against, and 25 abstentions. The U.S., Britain, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Germany and the Netherlands voted no.
