Ethiopians in Israel: an Employment and Educational Success

(Ha'aretz) Meirav Arlosoroff - A recent study published by the Taub Center for Social Policy Studies in Israel found a huge gap between the first and second generations of Ethiopian Israelis that shows successful integration of the second generation in Israel. 90% of the younger generation has a high school education, three times the percentage of first-generation Ethiopians in Israel (36%). The 20% of second-generation Ethiopian Israelis with higher education is almost four times the rate of their parents' generation (5.7%). Employment among Ethiopian Israelis of both generations jumped from 50% to 72% in 12 years, rising from 35% to 65% for women.
