(Jerusalem Post) Benjamin Weinthal - In a journal associated with the Austrian Center for Intelligence, Propaganda and Security Studies, historian Thomas Riegler has documented Austria's role in arming former Egyptian president Gamal Abdel Nasser during the years 1958-69. Responding to criticism that 350 Austrians were helping to build Nasser's armaments and develop Egypt's air force, then-Austrian Foreign Minister Bruno Kreisky, who was of Jewish origin but widely considered to be anti-Israel, said that "Austrians have a right to freely choose their jobs." Samuel Laster, an Israeli living in Vienna and the editor of the news website Die Judische, said Sunday that Austria's business dealings with Israel's enemies has not "essentially changed," citing Austria's relations with Iran.
