EU Backs Mission to Monitor Gaza-Egypt Crossing

(Reuters) The European Union on Friday said it was willing to reactivate an EU mission on the Egypt-Gaza border. At talks in Brussels, EU foreign ministers said they could relaunch the EU Border Assistance Mission for the Rafah crossing (EUBAM Rafah) and possibly expand its scope. EUBAM started to monitor the crossing in 2005 but halted two years later when Hamas seized control of Gaza.
