Israel Rejects Timeline for Peace Deal

[AP/International Herald Tribune] Setting a deadline for a peace deal would be counterproductive, the chief Israel negotiator, Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni, said Thursday after her Palestinian counterpart made a timeline a precondition for talks. The two sides are trying to write a joint document of principles for a future peace deal, as a basis for a U.S.-hosted Mideast conference this fall.
