Israel Admitted into Advisory Body at UN Human Rights Council

(AP-ABC News) Israel has been admitted into the Geneva-based section of the Western European and Others Group (WEOG) at the UN Human Rights Council, officials said Monday. The group acts in an advisory capacity but has no formal standing at the council, in which the U.S. is a member but Israel is not. Israel joined the WEOG group at the UN in New York in 2000.
