Jordan's King Abdullah Sends Army Against Islamists

(Christian Science Monitor) - In its biggest military campaign since crushing the 1970 Palestinian revolt, Jordanian army soldiers backed by tanks have been deployed against Islamic militants in Maan in southern Jordan. The targeted group - Takfir wal Hijra - is said to adhere to the same Salafist ideology as Osama bin Laden's al Qaeda.
