Changing Demographics of Suicide Bombers

(New York Times) - Previously, the attackers were strictly from the fundamentalist Hamas and Islamic Jihad, envisioning a covey of virgins and automatic passes to paradise. But since early spring, most of the attacks have been by more secular groups linked to Arafat's Fatah organization. The broader cultural phenomenon of suicide bombing may prove difficult to restrain, experts say.
