Reforming the Palestinian Security Services

(Washington Institute for Near East Policy) Gal Luft - The Palestinian security services were created in 1994 as a 30,000-strong police force to preserve law and order in the Palestinian-controlled territories. Today they include twelve different bodies (not including the Fatah-affiliated Tanzim and the al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades), each with separate independent branches in the West Bank and Gaza.
