EU to Decide if Hamas Political Wing is Terror Group

(Ha'aretz) Aluf Benn - The EU foreign ministers will convene on Friday in Italy to consider a proposal to place the political wing of the Hamas movement on a list of terrorist organizations. Israel and the U.S. have made extensive efforts in recent days to convince the EU to change its position. Prime Minister Sharon's bureau chief Dov Weisglass met Thursday in Washington with U.S. National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice. Israeli sources believe that the American administration fully understands the steps taken by Israel, and that there is agreement on what is required from the Palestinian side. State Department spokesman Richard Boucher said Thursday that the PA is responsible for the current snag in its relations with Israel.
