Palestinians: Abu Mazen to be PA Prime Minister; Arafat to Keep Control of Security and Foreign Affairs

(Ha'aretz) - Senior Palestinian sources told Israel Radio on Tuesday that Abu Mazen (Mahmoud Abbas), the No. 2 figure in the Palestinian Authority, will be appointed Palestinian prime minister. The sources said that the prime minister would rank second to Yasser Arafat, who would be in charge of security and foreign issues, and that Arafat and Fatah's central committee are the ones responsible for choosing the prime minister.
