UN's Ban Faults Rights Council Over Israel

[Reuters/Washington Post] Patrick Worsnip - UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon joined Western nations on Wednesday in criticizing the UN Human Rights Council for picking on Israel. A UN statement said: "The Secretary-General is disappointed at the council's decision to single out only one specific regional item, given the range and scope of allegations of human rights violations throughout the world." The EU, Canada, and the U.S. had already attacked the singling-out of Israel for continued special investigation by the council. Alejandro Wolff, deputy U.S. permanent representative at the UN, accused the council on Wednesday of "a pathological obsession with Israel."
