German Customs Stops Iranian with Unexplained $70 Million Check

(AP-Fox News) German customs officials at Duesseldorf airport found a check for 300 million Venezuelan Bolivars issued by the Bank of Venezuela, worth about $70 million, in the hand luggage of an Iranian man who arrived on a flight from Turkey. Customs officials said Friday that the check was impounded since the Iranian was unable to offer a plausible explanation about its intended recipient and purpose. The Iranian is a former head of Iran's Central Bank.
