(Ha'aretz) Amiram Cohen - The Agriculture Ministry confirmed Wednesday that "desert locusts" had been spotted in central Israel. Officials believe that there are only tens or hundreds of locusts in the area. Swarms of locusts landed recently in Cyprus, where crop damage has been reported. The locusts, mentioned in the Bible, originate in central Africa.
