Hamas Tries to Push Kassam Rocket Range to Ashkelon

(Ha'aretz) Amnon Barzilai - Hamas is trying to develop a Kassam rocket that would be able to reach Ashkelon. If the Palestinians launched these rockets from the West Bank, the entire central region of Israel and most of its population would be within range, security sources say. The Palestinians have increased the rocket's range from 3 kilometers to 10. They are now working on a Kassam 4 with a possible range of 17 km. Defense Ministry director general Amos Yaron said that developing a system to intercept Kassams is not likely in the near future.
